This has been a thrilling season for all of us at Boston Secession.
Our first-ever holiday concert,
Cabaret Noël, was a sold-out success, as were our always-popular Alternative Valentine’s concert,
(Un)Lucky in Love, and our most recent concert,
Justina Golden and the Amiable Consort. Our November and March concerts,
The Big Oh! and
Handel in the Strand, received
critical accolades, with the
Boston Globe recognizing Secession’s "
magnificent singing,” and the
Hub Review applauding our "
sublime performances.” And we received a very warm welcome from WGBH, where we performed highlights from
Handel in the Strand in early March live during Classical Performances, hosted by Richard Knisely. Finally, we released our second CD,
Surprised by Beauty: Minimalism in Choral Music.
Thank you so much for your support this year. Whether you have held season tickets for years or have recently discovered us, you are the driving force behind each and every performance. We truly appreciate your choosing to spend your precious leisure hours with us.
As this season comes to an end, we are putting the finishing touches on plans for Boston Secession’s
2008 – 09 concert season. The cornerstone of our season will be the world premiere of
Testimony of Witnesses, an oratorio based on the poetry of Holocaust victims and survivors by Boston Secession’s Composer-in-Residence, Ruth Lomon. The season will continue with
Cabaret Noël and
(Un)Lucky in Love – with new repertoire – back by popular demand. And while I’m not at liberty to reveal the details just yet about our fourth and final concert of next season, I look forward to sharing this information in the weeks ahead.
Thank you, once again, for your support, encouragement, and inspiration. I look forward to seeing you next season.
Best regards,
